Traceability System / Fruit Sorting System
A “sorting system” manages the entire process of sorting, shipping, aggregating, and inventory management for the target produce. It is a type of “traceability system” that tracks, monitors, and verifies the production and distribution processes of products.
NIC leverages image processing technology, along with control and data processing techniques for various devices, to automate sorting operations. Our system supports a wide range of agricultural product traceability and has been implemented in over 180 locations nationwide.
NIC’s Sorting and Traceability System
- Goods Receipt Process
- During the receiving process, the cargo information is imported into the system.
- Registration is done using manual input or by scanning barcodes.
- Image Processing
- The overall color, scratches, size, and shape are automatically measured.
- Based on visual inspection and measurement results from cameras, the system sorts the fresh produce moving at 60m/min to each exit according to the pre-set sorting conditions.
- Control, Aggregation
- Based on the measurement results from the camera, the system sorts the items to each discharge point according to the pre-set sorting conditions.
- It supports various types of conveyor systems such as round-pan type and random sorter type.
- Product Management
- Control multiple storage lines and store products by separating them into shelves for each category.
- By implementing a database, the system enables the accumulation, analysis, and traceability of sorting data.
- Shipment
- Integrated with the system, it is possible to load the products onto the corresponding truck.
- Products are stored separately for each item in multiple storage lines. They are quickly retrieved and loaded onto the truck.

A database is implemented for control and aggregation.
NIC is working on aggregating, accumulating, quality control data, and traceability data in database used in the production of agricultural products and goods. For handling vast amounts of data, we plan to operate on cloud services which facilitate scalability and security measures. This will enable the integration of data from multiple sites, allowing users to utilize the data online, and also reducing implementation costs and the time required for planning.
